Montreal and Houston

Well, I've been inspired to do this by a few different things. I've seen a few people making lists of players who were Astros and Expos/Nationals. 

Well, me being me, I'm JUST concentrating on Astros and Expos. My deadline is the moment they became the NotTheSpos. 

Oh and this is all in time for game 3 of the World Series. 

So looking at the wonderful Baseball Reference site tells me 57 players shared uniforms. 

Andy Stankiewicz was an Astro from 1994-1995, and an Expo from 1996-1997

Bert Roberge played for the Astros from 1979-1982 and the Expos from 1985-1986

Bill Gullickson played for the Expos from 1979-1985 and for the Astros in 1990. 

Because of when I started watching baseball, I only remember Gullickson as a Tiger. I didn't know he started with the Expos, or that he kind of bounced around between the Expos and the Tigers. 

Bruce Chen played for the Expos in 2002, and the Astros in 2003. 

Butch Henry played for the Astros in 1992 and for the Expos from 1993-1995. 

I have to say, I still really love those Astros uniforms. I also liked the updated Expos uniforms they used, though really the originals were so iconic. 

Carl Everett played for the Astros in 1998-1999 and for the Expos in 2004

Carroll Sembera played for the Astros from 1965-1967 and the Expos from 1969-1970

The Astros and the Expos were the extent of his Major League experience. He also spent time in the Cardinals and Reds organizations.

Casey Candaele played for the Expos from 1986-1988 and the Astros from 1988-1993

Candaele was traded to the Astros for Mark Bailey. Bailey didn't suit up for the Expos, though. 

The big thing about Candaele is he does have baseball in his family, but not in the expected way.. His mother played in the AAGPBL. He's now managing the Vancouver Canadians. 

Chris Truby played for the Astros from 2000-2001 and the Expos in 2002. 

Claude Raymond played for the Astros from 1964-1967, and for the Expos from 1969-1971

Canadian!

He spent a fair bit of his post-playing career with the Expos as a broadcaster. He was also the public address announcer for Baseball at the Atlanta Olympics. 

He was also named to the Order of Canada this year.

Dan Schatzeder played for the Expos from 1977-1979 and 1982-1986

He played for the Astros from 1989-1990

He was a phys ed teacher after his playing career.

Dave Veres played for the Astros from 1994-1995 and the Expos from 1996-1997

Denny Lemaster played for the Astros from 1968-1971 and the Expos in 1972

Derrick May played for the Astros from 1995-1996 and the Expos in 1998 

Ed Herrmann played for the Astros from 1976-1978 and the Expos in 1978

Eric Bullock played for the Astros in 1985-1986 and the Expos in 1990-1992

It seems for his time in Houston, he didn't have a MLB card made of him. I remember his 1992 Donruss card listing his position as Pinch Hitter.. As the Leaf shown here does as well. 

Fred Scherman played for the Astros from 1974-1975 and the Expos from 1975-1976

He tried making the Pirates in 1977 but they signed Gossage and Terry Forster after signing Scherman. He ended up spending the year in Columbus. He went to Japan in 1978. 

Gary Sutherland played for the Expos from 1969-1971 and the Astros from 1972-1973

He was the answer to the Trivia Question: Who scored the first run in Expos history. 

Geoff Blum played for the Expos from 1999-2001 and the Astros from 2002-2003 and 2008-2010

He's now a broadcaster for the Astros

Hector Torres played for the Astros from 1968-1970 and the Expos in 1972.

Jack Daugherty played for the Expos in 1987 and the Astros in 1993

Jeff Juden played for the Astros in 1991 and 1993 and for the Expos from 1996-1997

Jerry Goff played for the Expos in 1990 and 1992 and for the Astros in 1995-1996

Jerry's son Jared is the quatrerback for the Rams. 

Jimmy Jones played for the Astros from 1991-1992 and the Expos in 1993. 

Bateman was an Astro from 1965-1968 (And a Colt before that) and an Expo from 1969-1972

Oddly enough, John Bateman and Ron Brand both played on the Astros and were both drafted by the Expos in the expansion draft. 

According to Wikipedia, Bateman had an interesting mark in history.. 

There was an incident called the October Crisis in 1970. A Quebec liberation movement kidnapped and murdered the deputy Premier. 

Well, Bateman loved hanging out with the Montreal police, and they loved having him around. Novermber 6, they found a hiding place for one of the FLQ cells.. Well, the police let Bateman look around in the hiding place, leaving manager Gene Mauch rather displeased. 

Bottenfield played for the Expos in 1992-1993 and the Astros in 2001. 

He released a couple Christian music albums after his playing career ended. 

Rivera played for the Expos from 1986-1989 and the Astros in 1997 

I didn't realize he played in the Majors as long as he did.. 

He's now coaching for the Jays. 

Maddux played for the Expos in 1998-1999 and the Astros in 2000 

After his playing days he's been a pitching coach for a few teams, most recently the Cardinals. 

Marshall played for the Astros in 1970 and the Expos from 1970-1973.

Alou played for the Expos in 1990 and 1992-1996.

He played for the Astros in 1998 and 2000-2001

When he was with the Expos, he played under his father

Nate Colbert played for the Astros in 1966 and 1968 

He played for the Expos in 1975-1976

He is a member of the Padres Hall of Fame

Johnson played for the Expos in 1988-1989

He was an Astro in 1999

I didn't realize he started as an Expo. I do like some of the cards they made of him as an Expo. 

Chavez played for the Expos from 1996-1997 and the Astros from 2000, then 2002-2005.

Brand played for the Astros from 1965-1968 and the Expos from 1969-1971

He ended up playing short for the Expos in 1971. 

Staub played for the Astros from 1963-1968 and the Expos from 1969-1971 and again in 1979 

Le Grande Orange had his number retired by the Expos. It was obviously unretired by the NotTheSpos. 

Sean Berry played for the Expos from 1992-1995 and the Astros from 1996-1998

He was traded to the Astros for Raul Chavez and Dave Veres. 

Tom Dixon played for the Astros from 1977-1979 and the Expos in 1983

He played 4 games for the Expos in 1983. However, he only had a card made of him as a Wichita Aero. 

Tom Wieghaus played for the Expos in 1981 and 1983 and the Astros in 1984

He never got a hit in his MLB career but he did get one RBI in 1984. 

He ended up only having 13 MLB at bats. 

Tony Scott played for the Expos from 1973-1975 and again in 1984

He played for the Astros from 1981-1984

Granger played for the Astros in 1975 and the Expos in 1976 

He was part of the early Big Red Machine. 

Arm injuries shortened his career..

Others who played but didn't have cards showing on both teams: 

Dan Driessen, Kirk Bullinger, Jose Herrera, Jack Hiatt, Ken Johnson, Randy Knorr, Gary Majewski, Orlando Merced, James Mouton, Howie Reed, Bob Scanlan, Steve Shea, Bob Stinson, Scott Strickland, Derrel Thomas, Marc Valdes, and Dan Warthen. 

Heritage and Archives

As a result of surviving the first two weeks of hell, I bought a blaster of Archives and a small box thing of 35 cards of Heritage Hi Numbers. 

What I got? Well, here it is.. 

Here are the Hi Number cards.. No Jays, so I'm not interested in keeping them..

I generally like the Archives releases, I also know I won't be in a position to collect the set, so again, I'm just looking for the Jays, Expos, and Canadians. 

It's odd seeing Ty Cobb in a 1975 style. Somehow, the Deion Sanders looks nice.

I like that Stargell as well. 

The 1993 set is interesting.. It was not a set I collected in the wild at the time. Partially because 1993 the cards weren't avaiable in Terrace Bay or Thunder Bay. 

Now... Fan Favorites.. Laz Diaz??? 

I did get two Jays this time though. Sanchez, who's now an Astro. 

Tellez, who is possibly the first baseman of the future for Toronto.

Check Out These Cards

Well, I bought some cards through COMC a while back and got them in this week.. 

I've been awol the last couple weeks for the most part because for the most part, I've been working and sleeping.. Work had me incredibly stressed out, but that should lessen Monday. I'm not going to go into too much detail about it here.. If you follow me on Twitter and are genuinely curious, you can contact me there.. 

ANYWAY... 

Cards.. I bought 'em..

I got a couple new Pete Ward cards I didn't have before. I also got some 1979 cards I needed. For the most part what I needed were Canadian players and the Jays checklist. 

John Hiller, as I mentioned before, went to school with my friend's dad in Toronto. Reggie Cleveland is from Saskatchewan. Dave McKay is an original Blue Jay. 

Some 1992 Topps Traded here as well.. Matt Stairs for the Canadians binder, Jack Morris for the Jays, and Vince Horsman for the Canadians binder. 

Kirk McCaskill also makes it for the Canadians binder. 

I now have completed the Diamond Kings for 1992 Donruss.. Really the only things I need are the insanely hard to find/expensive Update cards, and the Rookies set. 

I really liked the Diamond Kings cards from this timeframe. 

Well, I know I complain a lot about inserts and parallels and all that.. But... There are some inserts I love. Fields of Yore fall into that category. I love stadium cards. 

So here are Griffith Stadium, Wrigley Field, Astrodome, Cleveland Municipal Stadium, Sportsman's Park, Yankee Stadium, and Metropolitan Stadium. 

I still need Ebbetts Field, Tiger Stadium, and Shea Stadium. 

I have some other cards to show over the weekend.

Another TCDB Trade

Well, I finished the Week From Hell at work. 

Very stressful.. Today I slept since I couldn't sleep last night. 

Anyway, I want to share a trade that came in..

Joey Votto goes into the Canadians Binder. We have some 1990 Score to get me closer to being done that set.

1991 Studio. I almost want to say "High School Yearbook" edition.

I do miss seeing Pillar in Centre Field making those plays in Blue Jays colours, but I do see highlights from San Fran.. 

we have some stadium cards. I know I should have scanned them horizontally.. But I couldn't be bothered..

TCDB Trades

I have a couple trades to cover. 

Today's been a very stressful day, it being my first day back to work for the school year and driving a new route. I got home around 5 and I still feel like throwing up due to stress... 

So this may be a little short, or just not a whole lot written.. 

First trade I want to cover is from bizauer

We have a couple Expos here, with a 1984 Active Leaders card featuring Al Oliver in Expos gear, and two Former Expos in Rusty Staub and Tony Perez. 

Paul Quantrill is from a town not too far from my current home. He's from Port Hope, Ontario. 

Next, some Topps Big. They were rather interesting cards. 

This was during the time where Tim wanted to be called Rock. 

Next trade I want to show is from itsjustoldcardboard

Some Upper Deck Masterpieces and the Stroman Gary Vee card. Still really have no clue who the guy is.. Not really inclined to find out. *shrug*

The third trade is from althib

Some Expos here with McClure and Nettles.

Some 1991 cards here to help with sets. I love the old Studio sets. I wasn't a fan when they became just another set. I liked the oddball information they provided. Like 1993, the Astros infielders listed current Vancouver Canadians manager Casey Candaele as their pet peeve. 

Vince Horsman is Canadian. We have some Ricky Romero. After he retired he ended up doing some broadcasting. He did the Vancouver Canadians games shown on Sportsnet up here. 

The Pinnacles help towards those sets. As do the 2015s. 

The final trade I want to show is from MasterOfPuppets. 

Larry Walker I believe will go into my Canadians binder. As will Nigel Wilson and Rheal Cormier. Leiter and Grissom will go into the respective binders. 

More Big League to work on the set. I'm really hoping to be able to complete this set.
