Hello friends!
Today I want to go over some of the cards I got in a box break done with my friends at the Team Collector's Forum. The break was done before Christmas. There was some silliness both with Canada Post and my payment to the organizer going awol, but I got the cards last week.
Tonight, I'll show the cards from 2025.
Kevin Gausman and Vlad Jr, two of the bigger pieces on the Jays. The 90 "Tribute" with the refractors kind of gets distracting. I guess Topps/Fanatics can't let a gimmick go by the wayside.. After all, how would they put out 30000000 inserts and parallels if they didn't gimmick the hell out of everything??
I really like this card.
Some Heritage looking like 76s.
Kloffenstein is an interesting one to look at.. He started in the Jays system. Went to St Louis in the Jordan Hicks trade, re-signed with the Jays, and is now with the Yankees..
Another interesting one. Will Wagner was picked up in 2024 with Jake Bloss and Joey Loperfido for Yusei Kikuchi. He's now a Padre
This season, the only time I'll really see Chris Bassit-hound is during the Orioles/Jays series, or if I decide to watch a random Orioles game.
Sepia cards are... Unique??
Speaking of Jake Bloss, I got an autograph of his.
Holiday is a set that really REALLY can go away. I've never found the appeal of it.
In one swoop I have almost the whole team from Update.. I just need Alen Roden.
Trey Yesavage flew through the system last year, ending up pitching in the World Series. Now, I hope his rise doesn't bring forth a just-as-meteoric fall.. Kid could be fun to watch for years..
Filed under "Things I never thought would happen:" Max Scherzer in a Jays uniform. Honestly at the beginning of the season I thought it might have been a mistake for the Jays to get him, but once he was able to get the nerve pain managed, he turned into a pretty good influence on the team.
Incidentally, today was the Jays' first Grapefruit League game. It's nice to know baseball is returning...

Yeah, the mojo chrome refractors for the retro inserts are way past their prime.
ReplyDeleteHoliday is hit-or-miss for me. There are a couple years I've really liked, but everything else seems pretty lame.
