Hello Friends!
Today I want to show off a team set I received in the mail today from Stuart at SR75 cards.
He went to a card show and found a couple team sets from the 80s I didn't have and decided to send them to me.
Jesse Barfield is always a nice card to get. He was a Jay for most of the 80s and if you talk to him on the Twitmachine, he still talks fondly about Toronto.
George Bell. Obviously another of the trio roaming Exhibition Stadium in the 80s. Didn't get along with the manager at the time, Jimy Williams.
John Cerutti. I don't know much about his playing career since when I really paid attention he was almost done... And a Tiger.. He did get into broadcasting for the Jays TV back when they were on CBC. He passed away before one of the games in his hotel room.
Jim Clancy, one of the original Jays in 1977. Was a Jay until 1988. Very steady, solid starter from what I can tell.
The Canadian contingency on the team. Another who had a solid career mainly as a backup
Here's the back of the cards. A little blurb on their vitals and season/career. Fire safety tips and then logos galore from the entities that brought the cards to fruition.
I like the last line on the legal information: Thes trading cards are not to be sold for any purpose.
Big Daddy before going to Japan and becoming Cecil Fielder. I sometimes wonder what would have happened had he not gone to Japan. Would he have been able to put it together? I think either way he would have needed to leave the Jays to get where he ended up.
I decided to also show a coach/manager card back. As you can see, they don't add their playing career at all.
I find it interesting that it wasn't until he went into coaching that he used the name Cito. Through his playing days, Clarence was used on all his cards.
Terminator!!
Dave Stieb. Always nice to see cards of Dave.
I love header cards like this. If I had the chance to get extra header cards like this I would use them mainly for binder identification.
Thank you Stuart for the cards. I'll show the other ones tomorrow.
