Vladimir Guerrero Jr

 Hello Friends!

The next few posts will be about a box I got from the Diamond King.

He emailed me to ask for my address, saying he had some cards he wanted to send my way. What I received has been glorious!

A stack of Vlad Jr, a stack of Vlad Sr, and some other Jays and Expos mixed in.

The Vlads will likely each be two posts because of the number.

I'm glad there aren't many Bowman cards in here. I hate trying to differentiate the Bowmans.. Almost as much as finding the dot variations in the copyright lines of Wax Era Donruss..

A Diamond King from The Diamond King
Despite the lack of logos, I do like the DKs that are stylized like this.

From what I could tell, this was one of the incentive cards from National Baseball Card Day a few years ago

Is it me or do the eyes look a little wonky here?

Sparkly!!! Topps 2030. Interesting.

I was happy to see two copies of this card. I think I may have one or two that are uncatalogued already, but that'll be figured out once I can get back in my back room

I got one regular and one Artists Proof. Very cool looking cards

Finally some Panini cards to end this post. It's a large addition to my Jays/Vlad Jr collections.
Next post will be part 2, then two posts about the stack of Vlad Sr..
Then the rest.. lol

I'm not sure if I'll post before or not, but if this is the last post, Merry Christmas! Hope it's a good one and if you know anyone who may be alone or going through a tough time, please try to set aside a few minutes to call or visit them.. I know it's a hectic time of year where time gets away from all of us, but that small gesture could be what keeps that person going.

Cards!

 Hello Friends!

Today I got some cards in the mail. J. Katz or Split Season 1981 offered some duplicate cards for to the discord group I'm part of. 69-71. I asked for any of the Expos he had plus any of the Canadians. So I ended up getting a few Expos and a 1970 card I needed!

While I have the team set for 1969 Topps, the two Larry Jaster cards I received will help towards my ultimate goal of One Million Expos cue announcer with reverb voice

The Expos from the 1970 set I had as well, but again Million Expos.

There's something about early Expos cards I love. Hell, there's something about Expos cards I love in general. That uniform.. The logo.. What's not to love? Well, aside from the fact they no longer exist.. .

Finally, I got a Fergie that I needed! Actually I got two.. He will happily join the other Fergie cards I have.

Now, the cards were a little beat up but that doesn't matter to me. It was disclosed when I asked for them. I'm happy to have them.. Besides, if condition really mattered to me, I can always upgrade right?

Thank you for the cards!!!

Cards Sitting at COMC

 Hello Friends!

I recently requested an order from COMC, then because I had money left over, looked to see what I could get for cheap for a future request

A couple Denzel Clarke cards. He's Josh and Bo Naylor's cousin and a fellow Canadian. He's also quite the outfielder, already making catches that few could make.

A Jackie Robinson from one of the Minor League Heritage sets that has him as a Montreal Royal. It might be a minor collection focus for me, but for some reason getting some Montreal Royals cards (even if they're modern reprints or productions) seems right.

Robin Yount from 1983 OPC. I'm trying to finish the set. I think I'll be doing a post about the set and another detailing my card focus going forward..

Finally, the forgotten Ryan Braun. Ryan Z Braun was a pitcher for the Royals. He's also Canadian. The funny thing is, Upper Deck has also put out a card with both Ryan Brauns signatures on one card.
The last card is an autographed card.

So that's what's sitting there. I may add a little more to it over time, but I don't know.

Jeff Kent

 Hello Friends!

Over the weekend, the Contemporary Era released their ballots to see who will go into Cooperstown next summer.

The ballot for this committee had some pretty good names on it: Dale Murphy, Don Mattingly, Barry Bonds, Carlos Delgado, Roger Clemens, Gary Sheffield, Fernando Valenzuela, and the subject of this post, Jeff Kent.

Now, maybe it's due to the fact that I watched the time his career was happening, but never really watched the teams he played on. Or maybe it's that I feel there were probably 5 names listed above that deserve it more, but Jeff Kent was elected to the Hall of Fame.

So one thing that surprised me was that he has the most homeruns by a second baseman. It's also no coincidence that his best seasons were spent batting behind Bonds.

He came up with the Blue Jays and was traded in 1992 to the Mets with Ryan Thompson for David Cone.

Overall, he played for Toronto, New York Mets, Cleveland, San Francisco, Houston, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

I have 8 cards depicting Kent, all with Toronto or the Mets.

So Congratulations, I suppose, to the newest Hall of Famer, Jeff Kent.
