Ah, the days when Topps referred to Tim Raines as "rock". I don't think it was particularly flattering given the story behind that moniker.

From doing a little research, it appears that it was actually because his physique was so solid, not from his, um, bad habits. Although the latter certainly give it a negative connotation. I also see that when Tim Jr. (who later had a brief run with the Orioles) was a kid they would call him "Little Rock".
DeleteAlways thought it was weird when I'd pull out his card from a Topps pack and see "Rock" on his cards. Did any other companies use "Rock" as well?
