1997 Scorebook Sizzler Toronto Blue Jays

 Hello Friends!

Today I'm writing in hopes this post will land in front of someone who would have information on this set..

It's called Scorebook Sizzler. It's from 1997 and I can only assume that it was a promotional thing done with the Jays Scorebook Magazine they sell at the dome..

I can only assume this because I can find absolutely zero information on this, other than it's a 60 card set, I apparently have 4 cards from it, and I want the rest of them.. lol

Otis Nixon wearing one of my favourite Jays uniforms.. I think it's the second favourite overall.

Paul Spoljaric!

Magic Moment remembering the first cycle in Jays' history

Finally, Felipe Crespo.

Now, judging from the photos and backgrounds, I almost want to say these are card-sized versions of a cover that was used for the Scorebook. I may be wrong.. But again, that's why I'm asking for help on this one.. I honestly don't even remember getting these, so I don't know why they're in my TCDB collection.

  1. Hey Mike!
These were included in issues of Scorebook, the game program magazine in 1997. Not sure how many issues had them, but this that did had a foil pouch inserted that had two of the sizzler cards.

I still need a bunch of these as well, in particular 35 (Sprague), 46 (Alomar), and 59 (Halladay)

  2. Never seen or heard of this set until reading this post. Just looked at the checklist on TCDB. Lots of legends. I'd love to add the Stieb to my collection.

  3. That’s the backstory on the Sizzler set? intriguing. I had no idea. I’ve had the Joe Carter magical moments sitting in my COMC mailbox since 2015 (just checked the added date) as “unsupported.”

    2. Consider it yours! Just requested delivery from COMC. Let’s see if I can get the card from them to me to you before the statue unveiling this summer!

  4. Otis Nixon being a Jay was always so weird to me. I always associated him with the 92 Braves.

    1. It was weird for me too. I started watching baseball in 1992, so he was a Brave.. Before that though he was an Expo lol
